Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise security technologies in a large environment. The role focuses on SSE, Zero Trust, and Zscaler while collaborating across network, cloud, identity, and endpoint security initiatives.

The candidate should lead complex security projects from architecture to production handoff, mentor engineers, and drive automation and reliability improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience in SSE/SASE, Zero Trust, or related technologies.
• Experience with Zscaler technologies and secure web/proxy configurations.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, VPN, PKI/certificates.

Responsibilities

• Own complex security implementations from architecture and design through implementation, stabilization, and handoff.
• Mentor engineers and promote automation, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Communicate risks and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders and vendors.
• Collaborate across cybersecurity, network, cloud, identity, endpoint, and infrastructure teams.
