Job summary

The Senior Engineer, Cybersecurity at The New York Times Company is a hands-on contributor who designs, builds, and operates security controls to protect our systems, data, and users. You will own end-to-end initiatives within the Security Architecture team, driving risk reduction and collaborating with product engineering and enterprise technology for business-aligned security outcomes.

You will work across identity management, encryption, network security, IaC, CI/CD, SAST, and cloud security

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software and security engineering.
• Experience with security controls: IAM, encryption, vulnerability mgmt.
• Knowledge of AWS or GCP, CI/CD, IaC, SAST/SCA, secure by design.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate security controls and services.
• Partner with product and enterprise teams to embed security into architecture.
• Conduct security reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments.
• Investigate security issues and guide architectural changes to prevent recurrence.
