Job summary

MITRE, a nonprofit engineering and research organization, seeks a Lead Cybersecurity Assessment Engineer to guide multidisciplinary assessment programs across MITRE portfolios. You will define objectives, scope, and milestones with sponsors, coordinate teams, and ensure rigorous deliverables.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years related experience with a bachelor’s degree (or 6 years with a master’s) or 3 years with a PhD, or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information systems, engineering, or related field
• Experience planning and leading assessments or preparedness activities at state, national, or international level
• Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, assessment practices, threats, vulnerabilities, controls, and risk frameworks
• Strong coordination, analytical writing, facilitation, and executive communication
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizen
• Position requires minimum 3 days on-site per week

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity assessment engagements from planning through delivery with sponsors and partners
• Direct risk assessments combining threat intel, vulnerabilities, controls, and mission impact
• Design and facilitate tabletop exercises and after-action reviews
• Coordinate work across sponsors, MITRE teams, contractors, and partners
• Provide day-to-day direction and mentorship to analysts and specialists
• Develop assessment roadmaps, progress measures, and executive reports
• Guide use of assessment methods and tools to support evidence-based recommendations
