Job summary

hXpath Inc. is seeking a Senior Customs Specialist to join its Chicago team.

The role focuses on preparing customs entries, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering excellent customer service throughout the import process. Responsibilities include processing entries via ABI, reviewing documentation for accuracy, HTS classification, and coordinating with CBP, PGAs, and customers to ensure timely clearance and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Experienced in preparing and processing U.S. customs entries in a brokerage or forwarder environment.
• Strong understanding of CBP regulations, HTS classification, and import documentation.
• Experience using ABI and customs brokerage software.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple entries simultaneously.
• Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit customs entries accurately and efficiently through ABI.
• Review invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and documentation for completeness and compliance.
• Classify imported merchandise using HTS and ensure proper valuation and duty assessment.
• Coordinate with CBP, PGAs, customers and internal teams to facilitate timely clearance.
• Monitor shipment status and communicate updates, delays and exceptions to customers.
• Resolve entry discrepancies and maintain compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation in the operating system.
• Stay current on changes to customs regulations, tariffs and trade requirements.
• Build strong relationships with customers, carriers and internal operations teams.
