Job summary

Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc. is seeking a Customs Brokerage Specialist to support the Import Manager in ensuring compliance with U.S. customs laws and the company’s programs. The role involves audits, post-entry work, and training to uphold regulatory standards.

You will interface with government agencies, manage CHB entries for air/ocean shipments and large accounts, and assist with JSOX and system improvements while maintaining customer databases and strong vendor relations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Customs Broker license required; 3+ years in the customs broker industry required; 4-year college degree preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to grasp extensive knowledge while dealing with a variety of people.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to organize and manage multiple priorities; work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Import Manager in audits/assessment of import compliance and customs laws and regulations.
• Process more complicated CHB entries daily, including acting as a customer advocate for high volume accounts and as backup for import entry writers.
• Conduct audits, troubleshoot, and monitor CHB/CBP and OGA regulations to ensure compliance.
• Correct errors and provide corrective action and training.
• Assist in JSOX compliance.
• Interface with government agencies and maintain positive relationships.
• Perform audits and report CHB entries for air, ocean, and large key accounts.
• Assist in maintaining customer bonds and POA’s.
• Develop and maintain current customer databases and interact with customers and Operations Compliance.
• Prepare Post Entry Adjustments and other post-entry documentation.
• Provide interpretation and guidance with CBP and OGA regulations; ensure compliance with US importing regulations.
• Provide classification advice internally and externally with direct customer contact.
• Identify process improvements and provide feedback to import personnel; audit accuracy and billing processes.
