Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks a Senior Cryogenics Systems Design Engineer to join the Effector-Optics department onsite. You will design and analyze cryogenic components for infrared sensor systems, interfacing with suppliers and internal teams, and preparing justification reports.

The role requires a STEM degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, familiarity with thermodynamic analyses, and Pro/Engineer or CREO proficiency. Onsite work with potential travel and security clearances apply.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in Thermodynamic, Heat Transfer Analysis and Structural Analysis.
• Experience with Pro/Engineer and CREO.
• Experience with fluid, pneumatic, vacuum, cryogenics systems design, analysis, or fabrication.
• Cryogenics system design familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design high‑pressure gas supply assemblies and coolers.
• Analyze Dewar designs and UHV hermetic vessels.
• Troubleshoot cryogenics systems.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.
• Prepare technical justification reports.
