Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Cryogenics Systems Design Engineer for the Effector-Optics (EO) Department in Tucson, AZ. The role focuses on cryogenic system design and analysis for infrared sensor programs, with collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications include a STEM degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, proficiency in thermo-fluid analysis, and familiarity with Pro/Engineer or CREO. On-site work is required with potential travel for program activities.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in Thermodynamic, Heat Transfer Analysis and Structural Analysis.
  • Experience with Pro/Engineer and/or CREO.
  • Experience with fluid, pneumatic, vacuum, cryogenics systems design, analysis, or fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of high-pressure gas supply assemblies, Joule-Thompson coolers, Stirling coolers, Dewar design, Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) Hermetic vessels and sealing techniques.
  • Troubleshoot EO Cryogenic systems.
  • Work closely with components suppliers.
  • Prepare technical justification analysis reports
  • Occasional travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities.
