Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks a Senior Cryogenic Factory Technologist to support the Cryogenic Target Workcenter in the NIF. You will provide advanced maintenance, inspection, and qualification of cryogenic target components in clean room and radiological areas.

Role requires assembling from drawings, handling gas systems, and mentoring technicians while maintaining quality records and procedure updates. This is an on-site, full-time position within the LSEO division.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or cert with related work experience in a technical field.
• Ability to interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and procedures.
• Experience with precision lab equipment, vacuum/pressure systems, and QA records.
• Independent work style with mentoring/training of technicians.
• Clear communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair cryogenic target system components including LRU parts and shields.
• Interpret drawings to verify assembly configurations, sensor wiring, and specs.
• Operate UV curing, inspection cameras, and specialized tooling for quality checks.
• Coordinate material processing steps like plasma etching and coating; conduct tests.
• Manage gas manifold operations and data recording for traceability.
• Develop and revise procedures and qualification documents; support training.
• Track work orders, inventory, and quality records; support calibration programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
