Job summary

North Wind Services is seeking an Engineering Technician V for the Cryogenic Target Operations group at LLNL in Livermore, CA. The role combines field maintenance of cryogenic and gas systems with remote console work and complex computer control systems.

The candidate will install precision targets, troubleshoot cryogenic/vacuum/x-ray systems, and collaborate with project leaders, designers, and engineers while adhering to ES&H and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• A.A. in Mechanical or Electrical Technologies or 4+ years of education/experience on cryogenic/vacuum systems.
• Ability to learn and operate complex computer control and data acquisition systems.
• Excellent communication skills to convey procedures and discuss technical information.
• Experience in technically focused team environments and with remotely operated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install precision, high-value targets for NIF Shot Operations.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain cryogenic, vacuum, x-ray, and pressurized gas systems.
• Safely rig, hoist, and handle equipment per protocols and safety requirements.
• Operate systems remotely via computer-based control systems.
• Analyze data and present findings to project leads.
