Job summary

North Wind Services (NWS) is seeking a talented Engineering Technician to support the National Ignition Facility (NIF) at LLNL in Livermore, CA. This role involves installing complex diagnostic hardware, large optics up to 70 lbs, and performing QA inspections in a highly secure environment.

You will work with scientists and engineers, handling hazardous materials and operating in a 24/7 facility on a 3/12-4/12 shift.

Qualifications

• A.A. in Mechanical or Electrical Technologies or 4+ years education/experience.
• Ability to learn or background with computer control and data acquisition systems.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical support for assembly, installation, operation, repair and maintenance of NIF mechanical systems per procedures.
• Install, align, test and document diagnostics in support of shot operations.
• Install and remove NIF Final Optics assemblies weighing up to 70 lbs.
• Follow written, operational and safety procedures while completing tasks.
• Operate and maintain equipment and work around radiologically contaminated components; may require respirator use.
