Job summary

North Wind Group in Livermore, CA seeks a Mechanical Technician to support the National Ignition Facility at LLNL. The role involves precision assembly, alignment, and diagnostic hardware installation for high‑energy laser experiments, with data recording and QA inspections.

Candidates must have an A.A. in mechanical/electrical tech or 4+ years of related experience, be able to obtain a DOE Q clearance, and work in a dynamic, 24/7 environment including overtime or alternate shifts.

Qualifications

• A.A. in mechanical or electrical technologies or 4+ years of related education/experience.
• Experience with precision assembly and mechanical systems.
• Ability to work in a team environment and follow procedures.
• Must be able to obtain DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assemble precision components per prints and drawings.
• Provide mechanical support for NIF systems per procedures.
• Record data and present for analysis.
• Install and document diagnostics for shot operations.
• Read drawings and fabricate components with supervision.
• Hoist/rig large loads and operate equipment as needed.
