Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the cryogenic propulsion hardware team. You will own the design, verification, and integration of complex cryogenic subsystems, delivering models, drawings, and documentation for flight-critical hardware.

The role requires hands-on Creo Parametric proficiency, GD&T knowledge, and experience with Windchill, FEA, and aerospace hardware certification. Collaboration across teams in a fast-paced environment is essential.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject area.
  • 5+ years of experience in cryogenic fluids and mechanical systems/components.
  • Experience supporting the development, integration, or certification of aerospace systems for flight.
  • Experience with fluid/gas components (solenoid valves, manifolds, regulators, etc.).
  • Experience with Cryogenic Fluid Management techniques and technologies.
  • Proficiency with Creo Parametric for parts, assemblies, weldments, and drawings.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with configuration management and release processes.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing materials, processes, and tolerance/stack-up analysis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residence or qualified refugee/asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Work on complex cryogenic subsystems and components with the Zero-g Propellant Management Product Team.
  • Support hardware ownership from definition through delivery, including design, verification, and integration.
  • Track procurements and hardware dependencies.
  • Support trade studies, component design and integration, and test support.
  • Develop, modify, and release Creo models, assemblies, and drawings for cryogenic hardware.
  • Generate fabrication drawings using Blue Origin standards and GD&T.
  • Apply Model Based Definition and PMI on controlled models.
  • Follow CAD conventions and Windchill CM requirements.
  • Create Interface Control Models and Drawings.
  • Deliver geometry to analysis teams for FEA.
  • Support drawing release, manufacturing plans, and vehicle integration.
  • Perform model and drawing checks and participate in design reviews.
  • Support vendor RFQs, fabrication, inspection, and proof-test packages with BOMs.
