Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking an experienced CAD drafter to translate engineering designs into detailed 3D models and drawings for spacecraft structures. You will create detailed drawings, support GD&T standards, and manage CAD data in Windchill, collaborating with design, manufacturing and quality teams.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, adherence to ASME Y14.5, and experience with cryogenic propulsion systems. U.S. citizenship or eligible status is required.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years creating detailed drawings and models for spacecraft or launch vehicle structures.
  • Experience creating detailed drawings for cryogenic propulsion/fluids systems.
  • Experience with model-based design (MBD) release process.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and application (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience creating detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and installation drawings for metallic and/or composite structures.
  • Familiarity with fastener callouts, weld symbols, and standard hardware representation.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident or eligible for U.S. work.
  • Desirable: Windchill PLM familiarity and regulated aerospace environment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Translate engineering designs and sketches into detailed 3D models, drawings, and assemblies using Creo/Windchill.
  • Create and maintain detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and installation drawings per ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
  • Develop and update ICDs under design engineers.
  • Perform basic tolerance stack-up checks and drawing reviews for manufacturability.
  • Support ECRs/ECOs by updating drawings, models, and documentation.
  • Maintain configuration control and versioning of CAD models and drawings in Windchill PLM.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve drawing issues.
  • Support first-article inspection and production by clarifying drawing intent and requirements.
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards and customer requirements.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining BOMs for structural assemblies.
