Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin, Red McCombs School of Business, is seeking a Senior Desktop Support Specialist to oversee workstation administration, security, and support across the UT Main Campus. You will provide hands-on desktop support for Windows and macOS, and help maintain a strong security posture.

This role emphasizes documentation, ITIL-aligned processes, teamwork, and effective service delivery in a fast-paced academic environment. Standard hours: 40 per week, Mon–Fri.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in business/enterprise fleet management of Windows OS in a centrally managed environment.
• Knowledge of ITSM and ITIL concepts and practices.
• Excellent documentation skills and ability to produce clear technical and operational docs.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Understanding of information security fundamentals and networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person user support and hardware troubleshooting for Windows and macOS.
• Administer the Computer Lifecycle Management Program.
• Implement and enforce information security best practices for end-user devices.
• Provide basic network management and troubleshooting with campus support team.
• Assist with inventory management and annual equipment inventory.
• Document processes clearly and maintain knowledge bases and ticketing/inventory records.
• Collaborate with team on projects and initiatives.
• Offer customer application consulting and recommendations.
• Assist with Service Desk management as needed.
