Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an electrical engineer to design mission hardware from concept through qualification and flight. You will define electrical interfaces, design circuit card assemblies, and own components through build and test in a crew systems context.

You will work with vehicle systems, mechanical, test, and manufacturing engineers to ensure robust, simple, and integrated solutions while balancing technical rigor with practicality. Passion for our mission is essential.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in electrical engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 7+ years in high-reliability electronics (spacecraft/launch/aviation/defense or similar), including board- and/or box-level design through integration and test.
  • Proficiency in releasing artifacts under configuration control (schematics, BoMs, drawings, test procedures/reports).
  • Hands-on lab bring-up/debug skills (oscope, DMM, logic analyzer, power supplies, load emulation; failure isolation and re-test).
  • Proficiency with ECAD/analysis tools (e.g., Altium/Mentor/KiCad, SPICE), signal analysis and EMC-aware design fundamentals.
  • Strong cross-functional communication with systems, mechanical, software, and mission assurance/quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop avionics hardware (boards and integrated assemblies) across the product life-cycle from concept through qualification and release to production.
  • Design analog and digital boards that interact with avionics systems (MCUs, sensors, actuators, pumps, motors, valves).
  • Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines in integrated product teams throughout design, build, test, and verification.
  • Support risk analyses, FMECA, design for test/manufacture/cost, and root-cause Analysis of test discrepancies.
