Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to join Institutional Risk Management. You will research and analyze credit fundamentals for financial institutions, sovereigns, and related entities, and assign ratings under underwriting standards.

The role involves collaboration across lines of business and other RCA professionals. You will evaluate operating environments, management, market position, and financial performance to support approvals and ongoing risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Typically more than six years of applicable experience.
• Two to three years of counterparty credit underwriting experience.
• Experience analyzing financial institutions, foreign banks, sovereign or country risk, broker-dealers, or government-sponsored entities.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills and ability to evaluate complex information.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze the creditworthiness of financial institutions, foreign banks, broker-dealers, clearing organizations, government-sponsored entities, and sovereigns.
• Perform due diligence and credit underwriting in accordance with underwriting standards and credit policy.
• Assess operating environment, management, ownership, market position, concentrations, financial performance, and trends.
• Analyze sovereign and country risk, including economic and political environment affecting counterparties.
• Assign internal credit ratings and probability-of-default assessments and prepare recommendations for approval.
• Establish, review, and manage credit limits for financial institutions and countries.
• Collaborate with Line of Business partners and other risk functions to support risk management.
