Job summary

S&P Global Ratings is seeking a Senior Analyst to own the credit ratings process for a portfolio of banks and securities firms, delivering independent, well-supported opinions that inform investors and issuers.

You will conduct quantitative analysis, engage issuers, prepare committee materials, supervise surveillance, and contribute to industry insights while mentoring junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Typically 3+ years of experience in credit or equity research, banking, risk management, underwriting, or related analytical field.
• Ability to analyze financial statements and conduct fundamental credit analysis of financial institutions.
• Understanding of fixed income markets and their application to credit analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full credit ratings process for assigned financial institutions, including quantitative analysis, issuer engagement, committee preparation, and rating publication within established criteria.
• Manage ongoing surveillance for an assigned portfolio, conducting fundamental credit analysis and identifying developments affecting creditworthiness.
• Perform research on industry topics (capital frameworks, operational risk, liquidity risk) and contribute to credit insights and peer comparisons.
• Analyze complex credit issues using sound judgment and available data to determine appropriate approaches and recommendations.
• Engage with issuers and internal partners to gather information and communicate analytical views for high-quality credit analysis.
• Share knowledge and mentor junior colleagues to strengthen the team’s capabilities.
