Job summary

Selective Insurance in New Jersey seeks a Counsel to provide day-to-day legal support across technology, privacy, and contracts. You will draft and negotiate vendor and technology agreements, advise on data security and regulatory compliance, and help shape AI governance and policy.

With 6+ years of legal experience and a JD, you’ll partner with business teams, support insurance operations, and ensure governance that protects customers and the company.

Qualifications

• JD degree required and 6+ years of legal experience.
• Experience in technology and commercial contracting, privacy, data security, or AI governance preferred.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction; NJ eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, reviews, and negotiates technology and vendor agreements.
• Advises on privacy, data security, and AI governance requirements.
• Supports cyber incident response and regulatory obligations.
• Provides training on governance obligations and contracting requirements.
• Manages outside counsel and billing as needed.
