Job summary

Erie Insurance's Law Division is seeking a Counsel I–III level to provide legal counsel in data privacy, cybersecurity and related technology matters. The role advises on regulatory obligations (GLBA, FCRA, NY DFS Cybersecurity Regulation) and negotiates AI, technology and data contracts to support business needs.

Eligible candidates will have a J.D. or LL.B., at least ten years of corporate/insurance law experience, and admission to practice in at least one state (PA reciprocity possible).

Qualifications

• J.D. or L.L.B. degree from an accredited law school.
• Ten years of related experience, preferably in corporate and/or insurance law.
• Admitted to practice, and in good standing, in at least one state; PA reciprocity or in-house admission may apply.
• Knowledge or experience with insurance or financial industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel and guidance to officers and other personnel on corporate and operational matters involving legal problems.
• Assist in directing the defense of the company against suits or claims, and assist in initiating legal actions to support the company's claims against others.
• Prepares or reviews proposed contracts, leases and other formal agreements and legal instruments to safeguard the company's interests.
• Reviews drafts of ERIE's insurance policies, forms and endorsements.
• Researches and interprets statutes, regulations, and other applicable legal authority; provides guidance to various departments.
