You will serve as trusted advisor on healthcare, regulatory, privacy, and commercial contracting, partnering with underwriting, product, operations, and finance to translate complex requirements into practical guidance.

The role focuses on day-to-day regulatory matters and strategic initiatives, including product launches, marketing reviews, contract negotiations, and responses to regulatory inquiries.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Active bar membership in good standing.
• 5+ years in legal/regulatory/compliance or insurance.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, privacy laws.

Responsabilités

• Advise stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters impacting insurance products and services.
• Provide legal review and guidance for new product launches, product enhancements, marketing initiatives, and customer-facing materials.
• Review advertising, promotional content, enrollment materials, disclosure language, and customer communications for regulatory compliance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial and insurance-related agreements, including: NDAs, services agreements, vendor contracts, and related documents.
• Support insurance form and rate filing processes and assist in regulatory objections or inquiries.
• Assist with responses to regulatory examinations, investigations, complaints, and market conduct reviews.
• Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting insurance, healthcare, privacy, and compliance obligations.
• Deliver practical legal guidance to cross-functional partners and drive compliant business solutions.
• Support fraud prevention, reporting, and compliance training initiatives for operations and third-party partners.

A growing insurance organization is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its business. This role serves as a trusted legal advisor on healthcare, insurance regulatory, compliance, product development, and commercial contracting matters. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with underwriting, claims, product, operations, actuarial, finance, and technology teams while advising on both day-to-day regulatory issues and broader strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise business stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters impacting insurance products and services.
• Provide legal review and guidance for new product launches, product enhancements, marketing initiatives, and customer-facing materials.
• Review advertising, promotional content, enrollment materials, disclosure language, and customer communications for regulatory compliance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial and insurance-related agreements, including: non-disclosure agreements, administrative services agreements, program manager agreements, vendor and service provider contracts, third-party claims administration agreements, letters of credit and related transactional documents.
• Support insurance form and rate filing processes and assist in responding to objections or inquiries from insurance regulators.
• Assist with responses to regulatory examinations, investigations, complaints, and market conduct reviews.
• Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting insurance, healthcare, privacy, and compliance obligations.
• Deliver practical legal guidance to cross-functional business partners and help drive compliant business solutions.
• Support fraud prevention, reporting, and compliance training initiatives for company operations and third-party partners.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• Approximately 5+ years of experience in legal, regulatory, compliance, insurance, or related practice areas.
• Knowledge of privacy and data protection laws, including HIPAA, state privacy regulations, GDPR, and emerging AI-related regulations
• Familiarity with healthcare and employee benefits regulations, including areas such as ERISA and the Affordable Care Act.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide practical business-focused advice.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively across departments.
