Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Sr Corporate Counsel - Risk & Safety to lead legal support for risk management, safety initiatives, and insurance matters across the U.S. and Canada. The role partners with Risk and Safety teams, manages claims and investigations, and advises on regulatory compliance and external counsel needs. In-office position at Phoenix HQ with travel.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of legal experience, JD, and strong judgment with cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• JD; licensed to practice law in good standing.
• Minimum of seven years of practicing attorney experience.
• Experience in risk management, safety matters, and corporate litigation.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on risk management, safety, and related insurance matters.
• Manage claims, litigation, investigations, and budgets; coordinate with outside counsel.
• Advise on OSHA and DOT compliance; support companywide safety programs.
• Support regulatory changes and corporate compliance initiatives.
