Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Area Safety Manager to provide strategic support in loss prevention programs, safety objectives, and training within the assigned Area. You will collaborate with Area leadership to ensure compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations and drive proactive safety culture.

You will lead safety training, monitor program implementation, and guide investigations of incidents, returning workers to duty and reducing injuries across divisions.

Qualifications

• Safety certification from a recognized organization or a college degree in Safety Management.
• Completion of a 40-hour OSHA compliance course.
• Excellent interpersonal communication across levels, internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to write clear reports and correspondence with minimal direction.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a high-volume environment.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and related health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement loss prevention programs and safety objectives for the Area.
• Provide technical expertise and safety training materials to Area leadership.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA, DOT and local regulations across divisions.
• Lead incident investigations and trend analyses to inform corrective actions.
• Support return-to-work and modified duty programs to minimize time away from work.
• Prepare timely safety and compliance reports for leadership.
