Job summary

WM is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel – Environmental, Health and Safety to provide proactive strategic legal services across environmental, health and safety regulatory matters in the U.S. This role focuses on CERCLA, RCRA, air and water regulations, and involves advising clients, managing enforcement cases, and coordinating external counsel as needed.

The position requires a Juris Doctorate, at least eight years of relevant experience, and State Bar licensure.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate (accredited) required.
• Eight years of relevant work experience beyond education.
• State Bar Licensure required.
• Substantial litigation experience in environmental matters.
• Strong familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, CAA and CWA; OSHA/DOT knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on environmental, health and safety regulatory matters.
• Manage enforcement matters and environmental litigation.
• Advise on regulatory developments and permitting activities.
• Coordinate external counsel as needed and manage related costs.
• Support various company departments with preventive law counseling.
