Job summary

EDF power solutions North America is seeking a Senior Counsel to lead negotiations and review of commercial contracts, M&A, and project finance for renewable energy assets across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The role focuses on wind, solar, storage, and grid-scale projects with opportunities in permitting and compliance within ISO/RTO markets.

The position supports governance and advises on corporate and project transactions with potential for leadership within the legal team and broader

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent and bar admission in North America.
• Typically 10+ years of legal experience with matters in the listed areas (M&A, project finance, renewable energy contracts).
• Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation abilities; ability to manage multiple assignments under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead drafting and negotiation of power purchase agreements, debt finance documents, interconnection and transmission agreements, and related project documents.
• Oversee due diligence for project transactions including debt and equity financing, purchase/sale agreements, and design-build-sell arrangements.
• Provide strategic legal input on regulatory strategy, compliance, and corporate governance for North America.
• Develop training and improve legal department processes to increase efficiency and mitigate risk.
• Lead and mentor legal team members and coordinate with external counsel when necessary.
• Support project development, permitting, and strategic planning related to renewable energy assets.
