Job summary

U.S. Soccer Federation is seeking a Senior Counsel, Technology & Privacy to develop and advance the organization’s data governance program with a focus on privacy, data protection, and product counseling.

You will provide practical, risk-based guidance and collaborate with product, IT, and business teams to enable responsible innovation. The ideal candidate has deep privacy expertise, business judgment, and in-house experience counseling engineering and product teams in a fast-growing

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum 8-10 years of legal experience focusing on privacy, data protection, and technology matters.
• Experience counseling product, engineering, and technical teams.
• Solid understanding of data protection, cybersecurity and information security principles.
• Minimum 5 years in-house experience.
• Sports industry experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead privacy and data protection counseling for the organization across products and operations.
• Advise on compliance posture and governance processes; develop scalable standards and reporting.
• Counsel on data collection, use, retention, sharing, and protection across platforms.
• Support privacy training and awareness with IT and Product teams.
• Negotiate and draft technology and data-related agreements and data processing terms.
• Lead security and privacy readiness, incident response planning, and regulatory inquiries.
