Job summary

Amgen seeks a Senior Counsel to lead global intellectual property strategies for therapeutic products and candidates, including formulations, processes, and manufacturing methods. You will collaborate with R&D and cross-functional teams across geographies to advance Amgen’s IP portfolio.

The role enables remote work or placement at major Amgen sites, with accountability for patent drafting, prosecution, and due diligence to protect biotech assets while supporting business objectives.

Qualifications

• J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited law school; admission to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• Four or more years of experience in intellectual property law.

Responsibilities

• Identify patentable subject matter with scientists.
• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide; conduct prior art searches.
• Analyze patents and prepare freedom-to-operate opinions; conduct due diligence for licensing.
• Negotiate and draft research agreements; provide IP counsel to R&D and business teams.
• Assist with litigation-related matters and defend patents in PTAB, oppositions, and related forums.
