Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Senior Counsel in Biotech Patent Law to develop, implement and execute a global IP strategy protecting Amgen’s therapeutics and candidates, including antibodies, nucleic acid therapeutics, and cell therapies.

You will draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide, perform prior art searches, give IP clearance opinions, and support transactions with due diligence and contract provisions; role can be remote within the United States.

Qualifications

• J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited law school and U.S. bar admission.
• Experience drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications, and providing IP opinions.
• Strong background in biopharma or life sciences IP law; familiarity with biotechnology therapeutics.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and execute a global IP strategy for Amgen’s therapeutic products and candidates.
• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide; conduct prior art searches; analyze patents; prepare freedom-to-operate opinions.
• Conduct IP due diligence in licensing, collaboration, and acquisition contexts; draft and negotiate IP provisions in transactional agreements.
