Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager, Senior Counsel for the Enterprise Data and Cyber team. This role focuses on strategic legal counsel across cybersecurity, data governance, and emerging tech, partnering with risk and compliance to mitigate legal and regulatory exposure.

You will advise on incident response, privacy regulations, and technology deployments, while supporting governance, disclosures, and executive reporting.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active state bar in good standing.
• At least 4 years of attorney experience in law firms, government, military JAG, or in-house counsel.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive, business-minded legal support to cybersecurity and data stakeholders.
• Offer guidance on cybersecurity operations, incident response readiness, and risk management in line with regulatory requirements.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage legal risks related to data use, privacy, emerging tech, and data governance.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and technical teams to craft practical, legally sound solutions for novel issues.
• Monitor regulatory developments in cyber and data to inform business decisions and risk strategies.
• Assist with reviews of disclosures, regulatory filings, and executive reporting in cybersecurity and eData.
