NineDot Energy in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Senior Counsel, Commercial & Construction to lead negotiation, drafting, and management of a broad range of contracts and vendor agreements related to construction and energy projects.

The role requires collaborating with development, operations, and finance teams, advising on risk, ensuring compliance, and supporting related legal matters such as M&A, real estate, and project finance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with readiness to become admitted in NY.
• 7+ years of significant legal experience in law firms, startups, and/or in-house legal departments supporting commercial operations, construction relationships, supply chain agreements, project development, and project operations.
• Experience with renewable energy, community-scale energy and/or energy storage projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, construction agreements, procurement agreements, vendor agreements, and other legal documents related to construction and energy projects.
• Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks, contract interpretation, ongoing relationship and contracts management, and dispute resolution strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and advisors to align contractual terms with business objectives, risk management and operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including environmental and labor regulations.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging legal issues impacting the renewable energy sector.
