Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to join the Finance team and manage product and inventory costing in a manufacturing setting. You will focus on cost transactions, variance analysis, and maintaining accurate inventory valuation while collaborating with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and 3+ years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with strong Excel skills and ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Three or more years of cost accounting experience within a construction/manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, and inventory accounting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including analysis of large datasets and account reconciliations.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills with experience supporting audits and financial reviews.
• Ability to challenge data, identify trends, and drive corrective action

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review month-end journal entries related to all cost transactions.
• Reconcile inventory balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules.
• Maintain and analyze product costing, including labor, overhead, and machine rates.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead, price, production) and propose corrective actions.
• Ensure accurate work and production costing.
• Monitor inventory valuation, WIP, and manufacturing absorption accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Serve as a key finance resource for costing, inventory, and production processes within the ERP system.
• Review cost structures, inventory transactions, and financial postings to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure manufacturing costs are accurately reflected in financial reporting.
• Support internal and external audits.
