Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join the Finance team in a manufacturing environment. The role focuses on product costing, variance analysis, work order costing, and inventory valuation accuracy while partnering with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.

Key responsibilities include month-end cost entries, inventory reconciliations, and maintaining costing accuracy across labor, overhead, and machine rates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing/construction.
• Strong understanding of standard costing and inventory accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills for large datasets and reconciliations.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills with audit support.
• Ability to challenge data, identify trends, and drive corrective action.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review month-end journal entries for all cost transactions.
• Reconcile inventory balance sheet accounts and maintain schedules.
• Maintain and analyze product costing, including labor and overhead.
• Analyze variances (material, labor, overhead, pricing) and propose solutions.
• Ensure accurate work and production costing across plants.
• Monitor inventory valuation, WIP, and manufacturing absorption costs.
• Serve as finance resource for costing, inventory, and ERP processes.
• Review cost structures and postings for accurate reporting.
• Ensure manufacturing costs are reflected in financial statements.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Challenge data, identify trends, and drive corrective actions.
