Qualifications

• A degree in criminal justice or a related field may substitute for supervisory experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and directs the actions of the security staff and oversees the security, custody, and control of inmates in a medium security facility.
• Maintains security of buildings and public property.
• Performs routine unit checks to ensure staff are performing duties safely and OSHA standards are met.
• Assists with inmate counts for accuracy.
• Investigates complaints and disputes; arbitrates between inmates and staff.
