The South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a supervisor to oversee security personnel within the housing unit, ensuring custody and control of inmates and maintaining safety standards. You will coach staff, participate in evaluations, and conduct shift briefings and inspections to uphold performance metrics.

Responsibilities include conducting counts, investigating complaints, and performing duties in the supervisor’s absence, while ensuring OSHA/safety compliance and staff development

Formación

• High school diploma required; related experience acceptable.
• Bachelor’s degree can substitute for part of experience.
• Must be certified by SCDC Training Academy and complete basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee security personnel assigned to the unit and manage custody and control of inmates.
• Supervise job performance and appearance of staff; assist with evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Conduct shift briefings, keep subordinates informed of changes, and perform random checks for standards compliance.
• Inspect work areas and security devices; ensure proper operation and readiness of equipment.
• Assist in counts and investigate complaints; perform duties in supervisor’s absence.
• Maintain OSHA and safety standards.
