State of South Carolina is seeking a supervisor for housing-unit security under the general supervision of the Shift Lieutenant. Responsibilities include supervising security personnel, inspecting living areas, conducting misconduct investigations, counts, and preparing evaluations.

The role requires certification by the SCDC training academy and completion of the basic supervisory course within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry.

Responsabilités

• Supervise subordinate security assigned to housing units and oversee custody of inmates.
• Perform routine inspections of living areas for security, safety and sanitation compliance.
• Investigate alleged misconduct by inmates and staff.
• Assist in formal and informal counts.
• Evaluate job performance and conduct; prepare evaluations.
• Counsel, recommend disciplinary action and train staff to required standards.
• Prepare reports as needed.
• Perform Shift Lieutenant duties when necessary.
