Job summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Corrections Construction Superintendent Senior (Project Manager Estimator) for the Central Administration to lead cost estimation and project management within the Dept of Corrections. The main office is in Powhatan, VA.

The role requires experienced estimators who can prepare detailed cost estimates, manage scopes, and coordinate bid packages across trades, supporting field operations with efficient delivery of programs and services.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; valid driver's license.
• Experience in commercial construction estimation.
• Ability to read and interpret commercial drawings and specs from architects/engineers.
• Familiarity with drafting standards and symbols.
• Experience preparing specification materials requisitions.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines; strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to travel alone to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the productive, effective and cost-efficient delivery of programs and services which support and enhance field operations to achieve the goals, mission and vision of the Department.
• Serve as a Senior Construction Estimator and Project Manager for the Corrections Construction Unit, preparing detailed takeoffs and cost estimates across multiple trades.
• Assist in the preparation of project work scopes and material bid packages and conduct site visit reviews.
