Job summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Corrections Construction Superintendent Senior (Project Manager Estimator) for the Central Administration to lead cost estimation and project management within the Dept of Corrections. The main office is in Powhatan, VA.

The role requires experienced estimators who can prepare detailed cost estimates, manage scopes, and coordinate bid packages across trades, supporting field operations with efficient delivery of programs and services.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the productive, effective and cost-efficient delivery of programs and services which support and enhance field operations to achieve the goals, mission and vision of the Department.
• Serve as a Senior Construction Estimator and Project Manager for the Corrections Construction Unit, preparing detailed takeoffs and cost estimates across multiple trades.
• Assist in the preparation of project work scopes and material bid packages and conduct site visit reviews.

Job Duties

This position is with the Department of Corrections’ Corrections Construction Unit, and the main administrative office is based in Powhatan, Virginia.
Actively participate in the productive, effective and cost-efficient delivery of programs and services which support and enhance field operations to achieve the goals, mission and vision of the Department.
Position serves as a Senior Construction Estimator and Project Manager for the Corrections Construction Unit. Construction Cost Estimators collect and analyze data for review and interpretation of professionally prepared plans, specifications and contract
documents and prepare highly detailed materials and labor takeoff providing cost estimates of construction in multiple construction trades disciplines. As a part of the project management team, the estimator assists in preparation of project work scopes and material bid packages and work in progress site visit review.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License. Experience performing commercial construction project estimation. Experience in reading and interpreting commercial construction drawings and specifications as prepared by a Professional Architect or Engineering firm in all CSI divisions, strong familiarity with drafting standards and symbols. Skills in preparation of specification materials requisitions. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Programs. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with
minimal supervision. Ability to effectively communicate with others both verbally and in writing. Ability to travel alone to job sites to gather information on materials needed,
labor requirements, and other information as required.

Additional Considerations

Certifications in one or more of the following: VCCO, *Virginia Construction Contracting Officer, CPE, *Certified Professional Estimator, CCM *Certified Construction Manager, Official Land Disturber Certification.
