Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Three years of experience as a Correctional Officer, or two years as Correctional Officer III.
• Candidates meeting minimum education and experience on the vacancy announcement qualify.
• Knowledge of facility operations and prison policies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assigning lower-level custody staff to posts and areas.
• Evaluating officer performance and ensuring custody/security of offenders.
• Coordinate schedules and enforce SOPs for proper operations.
• Occasionally manage facility as highest-ranking custody staff or Officer-in-Charge.
• Ensure staff training and proper conduct of procedures.
• Maintain facility security through inspections and regulatory compliance.
• Communicate directions during drills, searches, and emergencies.
• Respond to emergencies, distress codes, escapes, and transport of offenders.
• Supervise searches of offenders and living/work areas for contraband.
• Investigate security issues, incidents, and staff disputes when needed.
• Prepare and review reports and conduct performance evaluations.
