Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a security supervisor to plan, coordinate and direct the actions of the security staff, ensuring custody and control of inmates in medium/maximum facilities. You will oversee security for all buildings and public property, and conduct routine unit checks to keep staff safe and compliant with OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and directs the actions of the security staff and oversees security, custody, and control of inmates in assigned unit(s) of a medium/maximum security facility.
• Assumes primary responsibility for security for all buildings and public property.
• Conduct routine checks of the unit(s) to ensure subordinate staff are performing duties properly and safely, and that OSHA standards are maintained.
• Assist with all inmate counts for accuracy.
• Investigates complaints and violations; arbitrates disputes among inmate population and correctional staff.
