Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a Security Supervisor at a medium security facility. You will supervise security staff, conduct inspections of buildings, grounds and vehicles, and investigate complaints and disputes among inmates and staff.

A high school diploma with relevant experience is required; a bachelor's degree may substitute for experience. You must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervises security staff at a medium security facility.
• Makes sanitation, safety, and security inspections of all buildings, building contents, grounds and vehicles in a medium facility.
• Investigates complaints and violations, arbitrates disputes among Inmate population and correctional staff.
• Supervises and verifies the accuracy of scheduled formal counts; makes informal counts when required.
