Job summary

DigitalOcean is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel for Datacenters and Infrastructure to lead high-stakes transactions and scalable contracting. You will draft, negotiate, and close datacenter capacity leasing, colocation, and procurement agreements while coordinating with engineering, finance, tax, and compliance.

You’ll advise on risk allocation, expansion into new jurisdictions, and build templates and playbooks to improve speed and consistency across the Legal Department.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar in at least one U.S. state.
• 8+ years of legal experience with 3+ years in-house on datacenter or large-scale infra projects.
• Experience handling datacenter contracts from developer/provider or tenant perspectives.
• Familiarity with facilities agreements, and operations-and-maintenance contracts.
• Understanding datacenter operational requirements (SLA, maintenance windows, security, audit rights).
• Strong business judgment to align risk with business needs; translates complex legal advice for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal contact to drive datacenter agreements to signature (LOIs, MSAs, order forms).
• Draft, review, and negotiate datacenter-related agreements including capacity leasing and procurement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on deal structuring and risk allocation.
• Provide business-focused counseling on risk, supplier assessments, and performance remediation.
• Support international expansion by coordinating with local counsel on new jurisdictions.
• Create scalable legal tools, templates, and playbooks to speed contracting.
