Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach's Convention & Visitors Bureau is seeking a dynamic Sales Manager to drive meetings and convention business from national associations and government markets. The role requires travel including weekends and evenings, and operates M-F 8am–5pm on non-travel days.

As Sales Manager you will manage the RFP process, coordinate with hotels, venues and attractions, and build lasting relationships with planners and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business administration with 3+ years in destination/group sales.
• Experience selling to national associations and government markets.
• Ability to travel including weekends and evenings as needed.
• Proven success in generating leads and closing contracts.

Responsibilities

• Sell to national associations and government markets to grow meetings and conventions.
• Represent the City at travel industry trade shows and events.
• Manage the RFP process with hotels, venues, and attractions.
• Prospect and generate new accounts and leads for VA Beach.
• Plan and execute sales missions, site inspections, and tradeshows.
• Maintain CRM Simpleview and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Coordinate rate negotiations and citywide promotional opportunities.
• Assist senior leadership in developing sales strategies.
• Process travel expenses and procurement in line with city rules.
