Job summary

Brevard County Board of County Commissioners is seeking an experienced meetings sales professional for Beachside/Cocoa Beach office. The role focuses on proactive solicitation of new business, account management, and coordinating meeting and convention bookings with hotels, venues, and vendors.

• Three (3) years of experience in hotel sales, catering, convention service, or a similar Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) role.
• Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

• Solicit new business and coordinate meeting and convention bookings; act as primary liaison between meeting planners and hospitality partners.
• Promote the Space Coast to association, corporate, and SMERF meeting planners to secure meetings and conventions.
• Coordinate and manage relationships with hotels, venues, and vendors to ensure successful events.

THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVE SERVICE

$2,295.68 to $2,525.25 bi-weekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Beachside/Cocoa Beach. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings and weekends. Performs experienced professional work in the proactive solicitation of new business, account management, and coordination of meeting and convention bookings; serves as the primary liaison between meeting planners and hospitality partners including hotels, venues, and vendors; and promotes the Space Coast to association, corporate, and SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal) meeting planners to secure meetings and conventions.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, or a closely related field PLUS three (3) years of experience in hotel sales, catering, convention service, or a similar Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) role.
• Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
• Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime, which includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or manmade disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
