Job summary

LONG Building Technologies, Inc. seeks a Senior Controls Technician to troubleshoot and program temperature control systems per project specifications, install, and support warranty and emergency procedures in commercial HVAC.

You will lead junior team members, guide complex on-site tasks, and share best practices across projects. You’ll use expertise in BAS and energy management, coordinate with engineers, and provide training to customer personnel on operation and maintenance.

Qualifications

• 2 years tech school and 3 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience.
• Certifications in KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems.
• Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
• Expert programming and troubleshooting skills with KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems.
• Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
• Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
• Expert knowledge of HVAC systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
• Possess effective communication skills (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Program databases for all supported systems to meet sequences of operation and manufacturers recommendations.
• Calibrate and check-out control systems and ensure commissioning obligations are met.
• Create control graphics and deliver GUI in accordance with LONG standards.
• Instruct customer personnel on operation and maintenance of temperature control systems.
• Provide information to update drawings and keep equipment records for as-built documentation.
• Advise service sales manager of additional sales potential and solicit service contracts.
• Guide controls technicians on jobsites and on-the-job roles.
• Work independently to complete required tasks on site.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in project sequences.
• Provide guidance for programming project databases to meet specifications.
