Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering in Tigard, OR seeks a Controls Engineer transitioning toward Project Management. You will design and implement control systems, develop logic software and HMIs, and support startup for clients in semiconductors, pulp/paper, and food & beverage industries.

You may lead projects, mentor engineers, and handle project plans, schedules, and procurement. Travel up to 25% is required to support sites and customers.

Qualifications

• BSEE or BS in Controls Engineering preferred; AA may be substituted.
• 5–10 years of control systems experience across design, PLC programming, instrumentation, and commissioning.
• Experience with GE Fanuc, Rockwell/AB PLCs, and SCADA software such as Cimplicity or Wonderware.
• Familiarity with instrumentation data sheets, process descriptions, and IO/VFD selection.
• Ability to travel up to 25% to job sites and lead small-to-mid projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement control system hardware and software to meet machine/system requirements.
• Develop control logic software and HMI applications.
• Assist with startup, debugging, and system documentation.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on projects; act as PM on smaller projects ($50K-$250K).
• Prepare project schedules, assign tasks, manage scope, and control costs and procurement.
