Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering is seeking a Senior I&C Engineer in Portland, OR to lead instrumentation and control system design, development of specifications, and on-site commissioning. You will guide a team of engineers and drafters, manage multiple projects, and interface with customers and partners to deliver high-quality solutions across diverse industries.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent experience is required.
10 years of experience with capabilities in below areas.
Experience in design of instrumentation and controls schematics.
Experience in the installation, checkout, and commissioning of electrical, instruments, and control systems.
Knowledge of the NEC and associated national, state and local code requirements; includes hazardous area requirements.
Familiar with construction, installation standards and specifications for use by electrical contractors.
Document and organize projects using CAD, Excel, and Word.
Review fabricator and external design drawings and fabrication sequences.
Provide cost estimates for instrumentation and controls.
Monitor status and ensure delivery of project deliverables within budget and schedule.
Experience in Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food & Beverage, and semiconductor industries.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with team members, subcontractors and clients.
Experience with PLC programming is preferred.
Experience with AutoCAD is desired.
Professional references available (subordinate, peer, manager).
Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

Interact with customers and Wunderlich-Malec engineers to identify requirements and develop specifications.
Implement and commission instrumentation and control solutions; perform testing.
Lead a team of engineers and drafters to meet schedules and ensure quality.
Develop scope of work and cost estimates for deliverables during proposals.
Project manage jobs of varying sizes and coordinate staff and resources.
Develop and approve control system designs, wiring, and panels layouts.
Support construction and commissioning activities at customer sites.
Provide system training and final record documentation to customers.
Experience across industries including semiconductor, life sciences, food and beverage, data centers.
