Job summary
General Mills Wellston, OH plant seeks a Controls Engineer to lead electrical and controls systems across the site. You will collaborate with project engineers, electricians, and external vendors to implement PLC and HMI solutions and optimize manufacturing operations.
The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 3+ years of related experience, strong knowledge of ABB/AB PLCs, control networks, and safety standards, and willingness to support 24/7 operations as needed.
Qualifications
- ABET-accredited engineering degree in Electrical or Controls
- 3+ years of related experience in controls engineering
- Experience with Wonderware Intouch, InSql, DAS, System Platform
- Experience with AB PLCs and PanelView devices
- Knowledge of NEC/NFPA codes and safety standards
- Ability to lead with electrical contractors and third-party integrators
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Contribute to safety culture and ensure reliable control circuits
- Ensure equipment meets NEC/NFPA and GMI standards
- Provide tactical troubleshooting support to operations and maintenance
- Drive improvements by leveraging control system technologies
- Lead PLC/HMI hardware/software implementations per GMI standards
- Develop and coach control team members to build capability
