Job summary

The Senior Controls Engineer at The J.M. Smucker Company will lead and troubleshoot plant power and control systems, specify equipment, and support maintenance and reliability targets. You will partner with the Technical Manager and Plant Engineer to optimize processes, ensure safety, and develop technicians.

Location is 100% on-site in McCalla, AL; day shift with off-shift flexibility. Strong knowledge of PLC data, Proficy MES, and KPI development is expected, along with ability to train others

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in engineering or related field.
• 4 years of relevant controls experience.
• 5 years of manufacturing experience.
• Controls system experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens.
• Effective presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as administrator and troubleshooter for plant power and control systems.
• Collaborate with the site Technical Manager and Plant Engineer to maintain sustainable processes and onboarding systems.
• Ensure compliance with local and national regulator codes and safe practices.
• Validate operating data from PLC into Proficy or other MES systems and support data conditioning.
