Job summary

Smucker in McCalla, AL is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to provide active support for power and process control systems, drive reliability targets, and lead technician development within the Uncrustables manufacturing facility.

You will collaborate with the site Technical Manager and Plant Engineer to optimize processes, ensure regulatory compliance, validate PLC data, and design control strategies and HMIs for improved efficiency and safety across operations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher is required.
• 4 years of relevant controls experience.
• 5 years of manufacturing experience.
• Controls system experience with major platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
• Strong presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an administrator and troubleshooter for plant power and control systems.
• Collaborate with site Technical Manager and Plant Engineer to optimize processes.
• Ensure compliance with local and national regulator codes and safe practices.
• Validate operating data from PLC into Proficy or MES systems and support data conditioning.
• Design and implement control strategies, HMIs, KPI development, and machine control projects.
