Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Co. Buffalo MilkBone® manufacturing site seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the controls, automation, and electrical systems.

You will guide high‑impact projects, mentor E&I technicians, and partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to improve reliability and plant performance. This is a 100% on‑site, day shift role at the Buffalo, NY facility with potential off‑shift and weekend coverage as projects demand.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in engineering/automation and controls.
Experience with industrial controls and electrical systems.
Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

Serve as the site’s technical expert for controls, automation and electrical power systems.
Lead automation, controls and electrical infrastructure projects to improve reliability and efficiency.
Drive the site’s controls and power systems roadmap with modernization initiatives.
Partner with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to solve manufacturing challenges.
Develop and mentor E&I technicians for the next generation of talent.
Support robotics, PLCs, HMIs, MES apps and advanced manufacturing tech.
Use data analytics to improve performance and decision making.
Champion electrical safety and NFPA/OSHA compliance.
Lead capital projects from concept through startup and cross-functional leadership exposure.
Influence future technology strategy for the Buffalo facility.
