Job summary

E Tech Group, a leading engineering and system integration firm in the United States, seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to lead automation projects, design and implement control solutions, and mentor junior engineers, working with PLCs, HMIs, VSDs and SCADA across metals and related industries.

This role is local to Portage, IN or Gary, IN, with up to 30% travel to client sites. You will partner with project managers to meet budgets and schedules while advancing standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years with AC/DC motors and drives, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Industrial automation experience and SCADA knowledge.
• Experience with PLC, VSD and SCADA systems.
• Strong software and data communication problem-solving.
• Lead field start-up testing and site acceptance testing.
• Line/process experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, furnaces, and cooling.
• Collaborative team player with deadline-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement automation and control systems for metals industry applications.
• Collaborate with engineering and support teams to ensure successful project completion.
• Responsible for aspects of project budget and schedule requirements.
• Assist in development and maintenance of standards and best practices.
• Develop overall system and communication architecture for industrial control projects.
• Specify and configure hardware components such as AC/DC drives, switchgear and control panels.
• Perform functional testing of electrical and control systems.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Support the sales team in developing technical solutions.
• Be an ambassador who embodies Core Values and client success.
